I would have to say that Dale Earnhardt Jr’s run today is the best that I seen him since he had left DEI and joined Hendrick Motorsports. Watching the race, I thought it was going to be just like the past races and he was going to be in the top 15 and then at the end of the reace just falter back to 20th or so. One thing I am proud of is even though he knows he has no chance in getting into the this years points chase, he raced today like he needed to get in. Could this be a start of something big for him to come next year? Seems like he and Lance McGrew is starting to get on the same page. While other drivers was trying to reserve fuel, Earnhardt, who had previously made a pit stop at caution lap 159, picked off drivers on his charge to the front. When he got to the fourth position, Jimmie Johnson, Brian Vickers and Jeff Gordon had to stop trying to reserve fuel and start racing. Jimmie Johnson had to relinquish his lead when he ran out of fuel in the final laps. Earnhardt only had 2 top 5’s and 4 top 10’s so far this year, but he could finish out the year on a good note.
