Yes, resistance training (RT)
does includes lifting weights. You can use RT to tone your body or use it to
build up massive pectorials and bulging biceps. What RT does is make you
stronger, which in turn can help you have less injuries True you may gain some
weight after losing those inches around the waist. Muscles are heavier than
fat. Muscles also burn a lot of calories to maintain itself. This why I said
to throw away the scale. To tone your body, you use light weights and high
reps (which is the amount of weight that will allow you to do 15-25 reps). You
may want to do 1-2 sets of 1-3 exercises per body part which is broken down
into upper and lower back, chest, shoulders. abdominals, arms and legs. To
bulk up you need to go heavier with lower reps (which is the amount of weight
that will allow you to do 6-12 reps). You may want to 3-5 sets of 2-5
exercises per 1-3 body parts per day. When you start out RT, do it 1-2 times a
week. As your fitness levels increases, then you can increase your time in the
gym or home gym.
