Within the next year, there is going to be a battle between the Page Board of Supervisors with the Page County Economic Development Authority against the residents of Page County. The reason? The potential purchase of the Rebecca Graves Hudson property to be used as a potential industrial park property. The problem is not the location, the problem lies in the amount that piece of property, whicj is just over 200 acres is going to cost. The asking price to the county by the property owners was $9 million. The selling price ended up at $7.5 million. The county has to pay out $1.6 million with the rest coming from potential USDA grants. Ppart of the deal states that any interest payments Rebecca Graves Hudson reciieves from the county will be tax free. There is some speculation that there may be a conflict of interest between Rebecca Graves Hudson and the head of the Page County Economic Development Authority as to why that peice of property is the main focus when there are potential, cheaper land avaliable esewhere. A petition to stop the sale of the property is being circulated in the county started by Winnie Kerkhoff and Jim Turner. To contact them, their numbers are: Winnie Kerkhoff 540-778-3215; Jim Turner 540-778- 2282 of Jim’s cell phone 540-244-8382.
