The contraversy, the contraversy. That is all that seems to make the news here in Page County, Va. If the is no bad news, then noone wants to hear anything else. Now when it comes to politics, thats a whole new ball game. As long as the contreversy surrounding Danny Presgraves, the sheriff’s office, IBR and a few other individuals, Page County is going to have a lot to talk about in the coming months. This is bigger than the failed landfill deal the Board of Supervisors conjured up and bigger than when the Board of Supervisors lost $200,000 in a bad investment some years back.
Now there is a petition that is going around to have Danny removed from office. Well it was one that was being circulated. The Judge dismissed it because it had been improperly filed. Now this may have been done because the judge like Danny, or, he did it because he is making sure that there is no repercussions. Then there is a group of individuals that is coordinating to raise money for Danny Pregraves for a legal defense fund. So this says the county is divided. Half wants him out, half is helping. Like the the first election the Danny was in when he became sheriff, it was close, verry close.
Danny had been indicted on 22 counts.The indictments range from violating racketeering laws by committing several offenses, including using his position as sheriff to take bribes and to sexually assault female employees. OK, now the sexual assaults may be a little dramatic. Because if that was going on, Page County would have heard that thru the grape vine, and believe me, we have a very big and very long grapevine. Taking bribes is a little touchy. Just giving a public official money anywhere can constitute bribary. Even if you give them money as loan. I think the racketeering charges are gonna be the killer. Cock fighting became illegal because of the Michael Vick dog fighing charge. Now chickens are different. To some people, it’s cruelity. I don’t comdemn it or condone it, but all I have to ask is this, ‘Have you seen how chickens are processed at chicken plants?’. If you have a definition of cruelity, then that would be it. It would be hilarous to read a headline on something like this, ‘PETA sues Pilgrims Pride for slaughtering chickens in the plant’.
